Upcoming events..near you! (Virtually, of course)

We hope you all are staying warm! Wyoming winters can be tough, but Wyomingites are tougher. We have some upcoming events, one being our February Speaker Series on Thursday the 25th 6:30-7:30pm. This Speaker Series will be focused on Food Policy at the 2021 Legislative Session. The Policy Working Group (led by Livy Lewis) will be hosting guest speakers Scott Zimmerman, Rocky Mountain Farmers Union, and Brad Tyndall, Central Wyoming College, where they will discuss and answer your questions about existing and proposed Food and Ag policies under review at the 2021 Legislative Session. This is a great opportunity for those who are curious or quite don’t understand the existing food policies in our state (i.e. Wyoming Food Freedom Act (2015) and Animal shares (2020)). If you are a farmer, rancher, or gardener who sells your products are farmers markets, these policies relate to you! This event is virtual and free, you can register here. This session will be recorded and placed on our website and available to view.

Some other events and opportunities available is the virtual Beginner Farmer Info Workshop, led by Central Wyoming College (CWC) educators. Thinking about getting into small scale farming but don’t know where to begin? Or maybe you want to turn your home garden into a side or full time business? Join staff from the CWC Wind River Farm Business Incubator to learn about the farmer training program and hear stories from local Lander producers about their journey in farming. This (free) Zoom workshop explores starting your own small farm by talking to people who have done it. Learn more and register here.

That’s all we have for you right now, stay tuned for more events, resources, and news!
